“The time is right for SOFTECH 2014 in the Philippines, a high-level software engineering and technology conference like no other. As a leading provider of software development services to the global market, this will certainly add to the wealth of Filipino software engineering talent”, says Joey Gurango, SOFTECH.PH chairman and president of the Philippine Software Industry Association (PSIA).
With more than 60,000 Filipino software professionals in the country, the Philippine Software Industry Association (PSIA) in partnership with DOST Information and Communications Technology Office (ICTO) decides to launch the first-ever SOFTECH.PH: The Philippine Software Engineering Conference on June 26 at the SMX Convention Center, SM Aura, Taguig City. SOFTECH.PH aims to bring together software engineers and educators in a whole-day conference that tackles the latest software engineering strategies and cutting-edge tactics under the theme “Building the Internet of Things”.
Gurango adds that SOFTECH.PH will be the Philippine software industry’s answer to the call for excellence. It shall expose Filipino software engineers to the brightest people who will openly share their best practices with the attendees of this conference.
SOFTECH.PH zeroes in three different learning tracks – Agile, Tools and Architecture. Each track has three 75-min breakout sessions which features live demos, question and answer segments and panel discussions led by accomplished software engineers and industry experts.
The Agile track impresses the significance of a “people-oriented” approach to internet software projects and discusses its application. Its designated breakout sessions delves into the agile myths, concepts and adoption as well as best Kanban practices.
Meanwhile, the Architecture track addresses the concerns of software engineers, developers and architects who are keen on learning how to create scalable, flexible and valuable internet software solutions. The breakout sessions keys into the wiz secrets in designing winning mobile applications and high performance systems.

Finally, the Tools track focuses on cross-platform development tools that make the internet more ubiquitous. Its breakout sessions touches on best tools and services to improve a software engineer’s productivity, quality, and time-to-market. Another breakout session in this track showcases a SMAC showdown of public cloud service and technology vendors.
Overall, SOFTECH.PH boasts of a highly-technical conference that crosses various development platforms and industry vendor ecosystems while incorporating SMAC (social, mobile, analytics and cloud) technologies, according to PSIA President and SOFTECH.PH Chairman Joey Gurango.
SOFTECH.PH is a sister conference of last year’s SOFTCON.PH: The Philippine Software Business Conference also organized by the PSIA in partnership with DOST Information and Communications Technology Office (ICTO). SOFTCON.PH successfully drew in over 300 delegates composed of business owners, C-level executives, and other senior managerial directors in a whole-day event that discussed the ins and outs of a software business, Filipino software talent and startups.
“SOFTECH 2014 will be a real geek-fest. No sales talk, no marketing jargon, no BS. Software engineering session, by software engineers, for software engineers,” Gurango closes.
